Speaker 1: Jennifer Ho
At a young 27, Jennifer had it all. She had hit all the milestones - the job, the home, the car, the dog, and a man to share it all with. After ten years together, naturally the next milestone was marriage. While it all made sense, none of it felt right. She knew she had to break up.
Parting ways is tough at any stage of a relationship, whether after two months or two years. After ten years together, not only did Jennifer face the end of a romantic relationship, she saw the end of a friendship, a partnership, and a lifestyle. The decision to break up was step 1. Step 2 was untangling her whole life from his.
But it all started with Step 0: choosing to build a new life.
Speaker 2: Carey Chow
In 2019, I quit the party animal lifestyle and started on my health and self-love journey. I've since then quit the lifestyle of drinking, drugs, being that "fun, popular girl", and caring only for being with the cool crowd. Back then, that lifestyle felt like it supported the version of me with no confidence.
This is a story of an uncomfortable transformation and how I created the identity, mindset, and habits to change and now become who I am right now.
Speaker 3: Brittany Trinh
I started my business in 2019 with the intention of continuing it during grad school. Since starting, I've worked with many clients and built a successful online reputation.
However, it's been one year into my PhD and I’ve decided to temporarily “quit” my business for now so that I can focus on my research, create time for hobbies and enjoy being a student again, and finish the PhD ASAP so that I can go home and be with my loved ones.
Speaker 4: Cheryl Lau
In 2018, I quit law school because I realized that becoming a lawyer was not the end goal for me. In 2022, I quit my PhD to be with my partner and loved ones after being separated for 2+ years due to the pandemic.
This is my story of making tough decisions, going against cultural norms and parental expectations, and ultimately doing what matters the most to me.
P.S. Because this is a party, you will be asked to bring your beverage of choice to the event and we'll take a "shot" after every speaker shares their story :) Totally up to you what you want to bring 👀
